The only way to retrieve the documents and save the revolution was to infiltrate the chambers of the General himself. In a struggle she had no choice but to defend herself to escape. The blast of the revolver would lead to more trouble. Thinking quickly, she straddled the corpse before the soldiers came to the aide of their leader. Embarrassed to find theier general "indisposed" as they barged into the chambers, all they could do was excuse themselves and leave as quickly as they arrived to avoid repercussions.

"Disculpe usted, mi general!", they blurted closing the doors on their way out.

That bought her precious time for an escape with the papers in tow.

iyollotzin motlapana
(Her Heart Broken)

After a visit to Tulum and Monte Alban and seeing the geometric figures found among the ruins I was inspired to create this goddess.

Aztec priests prepared their bodies for religious ceremonies by applying red body paint. Their costumes included semi-precious stones and other decor to represent the various powers each stone represented.

This is the goddess of the broken heart, iyollotzin motlapana (Nahuatl for 'her heart broken'). Her face is a skull that weeps with pain. Her hands hold the broken heart that drips the last drops of blood before standing still forever.

(This is a fictional goddess I created).

Vino de Morelos-Tierra y Libertad
(Came from Morelos - Land and Liberty)

$3,000

Emiliano Zapata was the Mexican revolutionary warrior of the south. His fight was for Land and Liberty for the people after the Hacendados had taken away their land and livelyhood. His region, the state of Morelos, is the native state of the artist who now lives in Houston, Texas, the Bayou City.

The figure is poised in the manner of the most famous photograph of the revolutionary himself with his typical wide brimmed hat, rifle and sabre, and the bandoleras across his chest.
